God has called us to experience and respond to His transformational love. This transformation is from death to life, darkness to light, being far away from Jesus to being a part of the family of God…this is the message of Christ for this generation and for the next generation(s) to come! The Lord spoke to the Psalmist of His purpose for what God’s people should do…Psalm 78:4-6 states, “We will not hide this from our children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, His power, and the wonders He has done.…He commanded our forefathers to teach their children, so the next generation would know Him, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their
We have been blessed with many things; the greatest of those is our relationship with Christ, His Truths, and His kingdom purposes that He produces in our lives. We want to allow God to use these blessings for His Glory now and for the generations to come. We desire that our children and their children know Christ “…and His incomparably great power for us who believe.” (Ephesians 1:19) That is what “The Next Generations” plan is all about, that children, their families, and their children know Jesus and the abundant life that He gives. (John 10:10)
Another of our many blessings is our children! They are a mission field that is right before us. Their open hearts and teachable spirits are an opportunity for us to pour into their lives the Truths of Christ while we have the opportunity. Investing in children, students, and their families now will allow the
future of God’s Kingdom work to begin to happen so that “The Next Generations” will come to know Him and to make Him known!
First Baptist Church of Boerne has always been a people of God who have shown and proclaimed God’s amazing grace. For over 110 years FBC Boerne has taken leaps of faith moving forward as God has led. In 1898 a small group of people met, prayed, and dreamed of FBC Boerne. FBC built its first new building in 1923 at 615 S. Main in Boerne. The church took a bold step by relocating
in 1977 and building another new worship center in 1980 on additional new land; the current site of First Baptist Church. Over time, other buildings were added including the Hub for students and the present Children’s building. The original Worship center was converted into office space and
classrooms. In 1998 FBC followed a bold master plan to build another large new worship center. Continuing in these steps of faith the church built a multi-purpose facility in 2005, and constructed a new Family Life Building with a flexible special events area and classrooms.
Along the way many ministries have been started and expanded to touch the lives of people through Christ’s transformational love. Two new churches were started within the last ten years. Mission work has been expanded each year in countries such as Japan, Thailand, the Philippines, Uganda, Peru, and Mexico. Many other ministries have begun and grown to reach beyond the walls of our church into many facets of the community. We now come to a new opportunity and another step of faith to consider. With great growth in our church body and in our community, our children’s building is too
small and outdated. Our student ministry facility holds only part of the student population in Bible study and needs expansion. We stand once again at a crossroads of faith needing to trust God to meet our needs, to reach this community, and to provide for The Next Generations! While buildings are just made of brick, mortar, steel, and wood, they do offer opportunities to worship, teach, and share the love of Christ in this community and throughout the world. Details and layouts of the proposed Preschool/Children’s facility, expansion of the Hub, and paying off the current
debt are included in this booklet. The Next Generations plan is about raising the needed resources through God’s people and building the needed facilities for God to continue building His church. It is also about investing in the next generations for the kingdom of God and what He will do through them. It is about recognizing that God uses people like us to build His kingdom. In small group settings and in worship services we will be seeing over and over again how God uses people - just ordinary
people - for His extraordinary work. I hope that you will begin praying now if you haven’t already to discover how God can use you in this next generations campaign. I know that you will pray about what your part will be and what your financial contribution will be toward “The Next Generations.” As we trust God, step out in faith, our prayer is that we will remember the words of Jesus in Mark 10:27 “…all things are possible with God!”
I am so thankful for your prayers, consideration, and faith toward “The Next Generations.
