What is Awana?
A.W.A.N.A. is based on 2 Timothy 3:16 and stands for
Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed.
Awana club is a self-paced discipleship program for children that emphasizes the importance of Scripture memorization along with personal Bible Study.
What ages are eligible to participate in Awana?
Preschool (ages 3-5) - Cubbies
Young Elementary (grades K– 2nd) - Sparks
Older Elementary (Grades 3rd-6th) - Truth and Training (T&T)
Middle School (Grades 7th-8th) - TREK
When does Awana take place?
Awana Clubs meet once a week during the school year:
Wednesday Evenings from 6:30-8:00pm (Sept-May)
What takes place during Awana?
During each club meeting, the clubbers enjoy a time of large group Bible Study, outdoor games, and small group time to recite the memory verses from the week.
How does Awana Work?
Once your child is registered and turns in his club fees, he will be given a handbook and asked to begin completing the sections in the handbook.
The sections will require your child to complete various activities including Bible search studies, small service projects, scripture memorization, and occasionally small craft projects designed to help the him grasp a spiritual concept. As your child completes the work, he will be awarded various rank patches, and other small emblems to be displayed on his Awana uniform.
As your child completes entire handbooks, he will earn ribbons and trophies depending on his grade level of completion. These Handbook completion awards are given out in May at our Awana Award’s Ceremony
Why are there club fees and what are they?
Similar to other extracurricular clubs, Awana uses club fees to cover the costs of uniforms, handbooks, and awards that your child will earn as he progresses through the program.
On average, the costs are as follows per Child:
Uniform (lasts 1-3 years depending on your child’s age): $12-$16
Club Fees per child (includes 1 handbook): $30-40
Additional handbooks/extra credit books: $8-10
We do everything we can to keep the cost minimal but we know that sometimes circumstances can strain even the best budgets and we do not want any child to miss out on the opportunity to participate in Awana. If you have any financial issues that may prevent you from keeping up with club fees, please contact Nancy Marrs for information on scholarship options. (email@example.com or 830-249-2527)
How do I go about signing my child up for the program?
If you are interested in registering your child for Awana, pick up a registration packet located in the Children’s Building, Worship Center or Admin office, or Download it now. Once you fill it out you can turn it in along with your payment to Kristi Schmidt or Nancy Marrs.
Part of your registration packet will include a Medical Release Form that must be notarized and on file with our office before your child can attend. Only one form is needed on file for your family until your child graduates out of FBC Kids.
